Chamonix Accommodation has been operating within Chamonix for 20 years and as you can expect there isn’t much we haven’t been asked over the years.
With this in mind, to follow are some questions we have selected from our experience, but is by no means exhaustive. Who is Chamonix Accommodation?
We act as property advertisers and independent advisers for properties throughout the Chamonix Valley. We view the vast majority of our properties and we can help you find a suitable chalet or apartment even if it doesn’t appear on our website. Simply let us know your requirements and we will help you find the right place.
Are the prices and availability shown on your website up-to-date?
Our prices are direct with the owner/manager and we keep them up to date as much as possible. As you can expect, availability can change fast. Sometimes if a property is not booked for the season by a certain date the owner will take a short term booking. It is usually best to contact us and we will guide you to the chalets and apartment that are available.
How do I book?
Regarding seasonal rentals then you book direct with the owner/manager. An agreement will be drawn up and both you and the owner would sign. Many owners require 50% deposit on booking and the remainder 4-8 weeks before arrival or on arrival plus damage deposit.
What if there is another lockdown due to Covid?
With some owners/managers you have a 30 day cancellation policy prior to the start of the rental. If you cancel 30 days before arrival then your 50% deposit is refunded. If there is a lockdown in January and you have to leave then you will receive 50% of the rental.
Other managers/owners can offer a cancellation policy that costs 4.4% and splits the season into three parts. You can cancel any part for a full refund 02-60 days prior to the start of the period. If you are in the middle of a period then you will lose the money for that time but you will refunded the final 1/3.
Do you offer flexibility on arrival dates or do I have to arrive at the start of the tenancy?
Regarding seasonal rentals then the chalet or apartment will be available from a certain date. This is usually 1st December or mid December till 30th April. Many of our owners like to book their place for the full season. However, if your dates are not for the full period then we can always source other places or negotiate with the owner.
How do I make payment?
Payment is via electronic transfer direct to the owner/managers account. We have personally met all our accommodation partners in Chamonix and viewed the properties so you can rest assured your money is safe.
Is there a discount for repeat customers?
Yes we can offer you a discount on your accommodation booking as a repeat customer.
How can I tell you about my special requirements?
If you have special requirements such as wheel chair access, you have a pet or such like then let us know. We can search through our Chamonix Community explaining your needs and will find properties that are suitable for you.
What’s included in the rental price?
Again, this will change depending on the property but generally bills are inclusive in the rental price. If bills are not included then the charges will be taken from your deposit at the end of stay.
Damage deposits vary from property to property but is generally equal to one months rental.
Can we bring our pet?
Some of our partners do allow pets and this is where our local advisers and local community becomes very useful. You would need to let us know the type of pets you are bringing and we will then find you places that would suit.
The owner/manager will meet you on arrival to give you the keys and explain everything that you need to know about the property. In some instances there will be a key-safe which you could use should you arrive late at night.
What are your check-in/check-out times?
All of our rentals are for several weeks or more. This gives plenty of time before and after the booking to carry out deep cleaning of the property. There is therefore no specified tome to leave or arrive as long as you communicate clearly with the owner. The majority of the time the owner/manager will meet you at the property on departure.
Can we smoke in our accommodation?
Smoking inside is forbidden in all properties.
